The terms that apply when you use openhousingcanada.ca, its forms and member accounts.

Last updated: September 18, 2026

1. About these terms

These terms apply to your use of openhousingcanada.ca (the “site”), operated by Open Housing Canada (“OHC”, “we”, “us”), 2028 W 11th Ave, Vancouver, BC V6J 2C9. By using the site you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and forms part of these terms.

2. Using the site

You agree not to:

  • break the law, or infringe anyone else’s rights, through your use of the site;
  • try to gain unauthorized access to the site, other people’s accounts, or our systems;
  • interfere with the site’s operation, including by overloading it, scraping it at a rate that affects other users, or introducing malicious code;
  • submit information that is false, or that you don’t have the right to share — including other people’s personal information without their permission;
  • use the site or its forms to send spam or unsolicited messages.

We may suspend access for anyone who breaks these terms.

3. Accounts

You must be 18 or older to create an account. A member account works across Open Housing Canada’s tools. Keep your password confidential and tell us promptly if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for activity under your account. You can close your account at any time by contacting us.

4. Our content and open resources

Unless a page or resource says otherwise, the site’s text and graphics are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0): you may share and adapt them for any purpose, as long as you credit Open Housing Canada. Logos and trademarks, including our own, are not covered. Open data, open-source code and other resources we publish are made available under the licence stated with each of them, and that licence governs how you may use them.

Partner names and logos, such as those of our hackathon partner and sponsor, belong to their owners and are shown with permission.

5. What you send us

When you contact us or apply through the site, you confirm that the information is accurate and that you are entitled to share it. We use it as described in our Privacy Policy.

DASH Configurator Hackathon. Every team member must be 18 or older. Open Housing Canada owns everything a team submits for the hackathon, including configurations, 3D models, source code and other materials. By submitting, each team member assigns their rights in those materials to Open Housing Canada, and confirms that the team created them or has the right to include any third-party material in them.

6. Links to other sites

The site links to other websites, including partner and government sites. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their content or privacy practices.

7. Information on the site

We work to keep the site accurate and up to date, but it is provided “as is” for general information. It is not professional, legal, engineering or financial advice, and you should not rely on it as a substitute for that advice. Tools, data and designs referenced on the site may be preliminary and may change.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, OHC is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss of data, revenue or profits, arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date above shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and any dispute will be heard in the courts of British Columbia.
