DASH Hackathon: building tools to generate housing solutions
At the DASH Hackathon, teams build computational configurators: working tools that take parcel data and a set of design rules, and generate housing configurations from units in BC Housing’s DASH kit of parts.
Two rounds. One configurator.
In the first round, teams apply their tool to five parcels. During the final 12 hours, five new parcels are released, and teams use the same configurator to prepare solutions for them.
What teams deliver
For every parcel, a configuration file and a matching 3D model, plus the runnable materials behind the tool.
What it takes to win
Rule compliance, housing capacity, unit mix, and building efficiency. The first five parcels count for 40% of the score. The final five count for 60%, so the last 12 hours decide it.
